Mrs. Eram Butt
Principal
Sister Eram Butt is a respected member of the Kingston Muslim community with over 21 years of experience in Islamic education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and is certified in Montessori teaching. Her career includes teaching at Irving Islamic School in Texas and schools in Lahore, Pakistan, giving her a broad and adaptable approach to education.
At Manar Academy, Mrs. Eram plays a key role in shaping the school’s academic programs and supporting students’ growth. She also contributes to the Islamic Center of Kingston by leading youth initiatives, educational programs, and community events, making a lasting impact on both students and families.
Mrs. Amirah
Quran & Arabic teacher
Sister Amirah is the Quran and Arabic teacher at Manar Academy. She holds a degree in Education with a major in Chemistry from Alexandria University and has taught in both nurseries and schools, giving her a versatile and effective approach to engaging students across age groups. Mrs. Amira has also earned multiple Ijazah certifications in four recognized Qira’at—‘Asim, Abu Ja’far, Nafi’, and Ibn Kathir—enhancing her ability to deliver authentic and meaningful instruction.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Amira has taught Quran, Arabic, and Islamic Studies to non-native speakers online, expanding her impact to diverse learners. Her experience and dedication make her an essential member of the Manar Academy team.
Mrs. Aysha Tosun
Homeroom & Language teacher
Sister Aysha Tosun is an experienced and passionate educator at Manar Academy, serving as the homeroom teacher for Grades 5 and 6 and teaching English and French across Grades 3 to 6.
She holds a Bachelor of General Arts from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Education with a concentration in English as a Second Language from Queen’s University. Mrs. Tosun has worked extensively in the Limestone District School Board as a Core French and French Immersion teacher, Educational Assistant, and Early Childhood Educator, bringing expertise in language instruction, inclusive education, and student-centered learning.
Her broad experience and dedication to integrating academic excellence with Islamic values make her a vital member of the Manar Academy team.
Mrs. Ghoson Bakari
Homeroom teacher Grade 1 & 2
Mrs. Ghoson Bakari is a passionate and dedicated educator currently teaching Grade 1 and 2 at Manar Academy. She creates a welcoming and inclusive classroom where students feel supported, encouraged, and inspired to grow both academically and personally.
Mrs. Bakari holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Damascus University and brings over a decade of teaching experience across diverse educational settings. Before joining Manar Academy, she worked as a private teacher in Dubai, delivering tailored instruction to support student achievement. She also served as a substitute teacher in various private schools, gaining experience across multiple grade levels and subjects.
Known for her warm demeanor and structured approach, Mrs. Bakari designs engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that foster confidence, creativity, and a love of learning.
Mrs. Ghina El-haj
Homeroom teacher JK/SK
Sister Ghina is the homeroom teacher for JK/SK at Manar Academy. She is a Registered Early Childhood Educator with over 10 years of experience in childcare, preschool, and elementary education. Trilingual in Arabic, English, and French, she brings a versatile and inclusive approach to her classroom. Her teaching style is rooted in creativity, play-based learning, and arts integration, allowing young learners to develop academically, socially, and emotionally in a nurturing environment.
Miss Ghina has worked with children of various ages and abilities, including students in special education, and is skilled in child development, behavior management, and early learning strategies. She is also certified in translation into Arabic, with training in translating a wide range of texts such as children’s books, plays, and articles. Her dedication to her students, combined with her collaborative and easygoing nature with staff, makes her a valuable member of the Manar Academy team.
Mrs. Maryam Nasreldin
Islamic Studies/Quran teacher
Sister Maryam teaches Qur’an, Arabic, and Islamic Studies for Grades 1–6 at Manar Academy. With a background as a former civil engineer, she brings a unique perspective and a deep passion for education. Her true calling lies in helping children connect with the Qur’an and guiding them to apply its lessons in their daily lives.
Teaching with sincerity and purpose, Sister Maryam inspires her students to strengthen both their faith and character, making her an important part of the Manar Academy team.
Mrs. Sadaf Amir
Homeroom teacher Grade 3 & 4
Mrs. Sadaf Amir is a certified Early Childhood Educator in Ontario and a valued member of the Manar Academy team.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts as well as a diploma in Early Childhood Education, and her teaching experience spans both Alberta and Ontario. In addition to her professional achievements, Mrs. Sadaf is actively involved in community service and is known for her ability to connect warmly with students and families.
Her professionalism, compassion, and commitment to Islamic values make her an integral part of the early years program at Manar Academy.
Ms. Melure Azory
Educational Assistant for JK/SK and JK -Grade 2 English teacher
Sister Melure is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a degree in Architecture. She brings creativity, academic support, and a strong passion for community service to Manar Academy, contributing to both the classroom and the wider school environment.
